Royal DeMaria Wines is thrilled by International Medals

Royal DeMaria Wines, 'Canada's Icewine Specialist', has continued their success in Europe winning medals at coveted competitions in Italy and Belgium.

Royal DeMaria Wines has won a Silver Medal in the sweet wine category at the 35th Vinitaly 2001 for their 1999 Vidal Icewine. This is the second consecutive silver won from Vinitaly having won a silver medal for the 1998 Vidal Icewine last year. An Honourable Mention was also received at this year's competition for both the 1999 Gewurztraminer Icewine and the 1999 Riesling Icewine.

To add to Royal DeMaria's growing success, another 3 medals were received at Concours Mondiales in Brussels. A Gold Medal was received for the 1999 Gewurztraminer Icewine and a Silver Medal was received for both the 1999 Pinot Gris Icewine and the 1999 Riesling Icewine.

Owner/Winemaker Joseph DeMaria has been involved with the production of Icewine since 1992. Having purchased his 25 acre vineyard in Vineland in 1997 Joseph DeMaria has reached this early success with only 2 vintages. For the 2000 vintage Royal DeMaria Wines will be introducing a Chardonnay Icewine, Gamay Icewine, and a Merlot Icewine.
